GENESEE COUNTY PUBLIC SAFETY NEWS REPORTS
Flint City public safety radio system upgrade and possible consolidation with Genesee County 911
On March 13, 2012, it was announced the Flint City police and fire departments will upgrade their radio system to the MPSCS by the end of summer 2012. The news release also mentions the city's desire to consolidate with Genesee County 911. Further details: here.
Update: per Flint City's Proposed Fiscal Year 2013 budget report from April 2012, Emergency Manager Mike Brown has projected the project will be complete by June 1, 2012. Also, the city is still considering consolation with the Genesee County 911 center. Full report: here.

Governor Rick Snyder's Michigan Public Safety Plan
On March 7, 2012, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder announced his statewide Public Safety Plan during a press conference in Flint. It includes special programs for Flint, which, along with Detroit, Pontiac and Saginaw, is one of Michigan's most violent cities. Read the full plan: here.

Report from January 2012: The Genesee County Sheriff's Department Drug Posse was disbanded on January 27, 2012. After that date, its members joined the Flint Area Narcotics Group (FANG). Further details: here.

Michigan State Police Third District Headquarters move to Flint Township
Report from May 2012: The Michigan State Police's Third District Headquarters are in the process of moving from Saginaw to the vacant bank next to Genesee County 911 / Michigan State Police Post 35 in Flint Township. Michigan Public Safety Communications System (M.P.S.C.S.), a Motorola
APCO-25 Project 25 Common Air Interface Exclusive digital trunked
system. They have their own frequencies on it. Fenton City, who has
